Runway Review: Light, simple and carefree – as fashion should be – is what you will find in Charlotte Ronson for Spring 2012.
Charlotte Ronson’s Spring 2012 collection continues with the bohemian feeling known for her line, but for Spring 2012 she trades in the grunge we have seen in the past two seasons and for a of precious vintage femininity. The ever-present small floral prints are here again and in addition we have cotton eyelets, lace collars, ombre chiffon, delicate knits and shimmering beading.
For the boho tomboy there is patchwork denim, printed chambray denim and black and white stripe shorts – which have been spotted on multiple runways this season. The muted palette is dreamy and makes the pieces feel special, something your coveted great-aunt would hand you down to be treasured.
The line is so wearable for free spirited twenty-somethings – she knows her girl well, and her want to daydream while layering on comfortable and simply defining clothing.

Perfect for everyday dressing we can choose from straight leg, multi-wash patchwork jeans, a sheer pale blue plaid shirtdress, a seamed floral sundress with covered buttons, and a printed chambray denim mini dress worn with a bright red belt. And those stripe shorts…we all need a pair because they are cropping up everywhere! My favorites are a directional stripe slim tank dress with asymmetrical button opening on the skirt, a spaced dyed ponte knit short + crop blazer suit, and a bright coral chiffon mini dress with silver beading at the neck. And yes, the stripe shorts!
Light, simple and carefree – as fashion should be – is what you will find in this line for Spring 2012. The runway music carried this sentiment and the audience gave a sweet, smiling sigh of satisfaction when Charlotte took her bow. — Alix Kivlin
