Runway Review: I desperately want to be the woman in the room wearing Herve Leger’s Spring 2012 collection pieces.
Sexy, strong, feminine, and very aware of her prowess she is indeed.
And wearing a dress to match the attitude.
The collection is beautifully simple yet intricate – the color palette hardly strays from champagne, silver and soft rose lurex, black and white. The silhouettes overall are fitted, ahem….very fitted, mid-thigh, sleeveless sheath dresses. It’s all very simple until you get up close and see the exquisite seaming, braiding, knotting, metallic beadwork and pleating. These details are what make each dress simply nail it dead on. And these details mold to the body and create a stunning piece of work on a woman’s body, perfectly highlighting the curve of the hip, the nip in the waist and showing off the defining collarbone.
There is a Pocahontas meets Xena Warrior Princess in the 21st century vibe here; and I mean that in the highest regards to the raw, sexiness of the dresses, the knots and seaming that evoke soft armor, the beaded panels and metal plating. The cut-out boots may have something to do with this feeling as well! The last look, a long white gown with exposed rib cage, fringe and metal plates surely makes a decadent statement for pioneering times.
