London Fashion Visits NY- The Best of London S/S 2012 at The London Show Rooms

Naveed and I popped by The London Show Rooms in New York last week to take a close-up and intimate look at some of London’s brightest designers.

As always, we were mesmerized with the up close privilege of ogling at some incredible construction, innovative design, and left with a wish list days long from the generous talent of these young designers from “across the pond.”

I guessed right on wanting to see  Cate Blanchette wear Felicity Brown, as, ironically, she’s the line’s muse. From my lips to Cate’s next red carpet would be divine! S.H.

Shortly after the rigid snooze-fest that we’ve come to think of New York Fashion Week as comes to a wrap comes The London Show Rooms, an annual two-day showroom presentation highlighting the best of Britain’s young designers in the penthouse of the Soho Grand Hotel.

Working as a fest full of brilliant design for us to feast on, the imaginative creations of some of London’s best never disappoint. Here’s a look at some of the collections that truly caught our eye.

Felicity Brown

Looking for the perfect dresses to don during spring’s wedding season? Look no further as the feather-light confections at Felicity Brown with their vaguely tribal inspired chiffon rope work made for elegant, romantic and almost other worldly options.

Palmer Harding

Palmer Harding’s many ingenious takes on the quintessential white dress shirt were a wonderful addition to the line-up at this season’s London Show Rooms with their methodical pleating, interior belts and unique shapes. So good in fact, it was hard to narrow down exactly which ones we’ll be adding to our most-wanted shopping lists come next season after surveying their range.

James Long

James Long’s exquisitely hand beaded sequined numbers caught our eye with their superb craftsmanship, easy to wear shapes and decadent finishing, all in ultra-light weight fabrications perfect for spring’s warmer climates.

Holly Fulton

The ever polite Holly Fulton remains a favorite go-see of ours at the London Show Rooms and it was a treat to see her this time around with another delicious trove of art-deco inspired beauty’s on hand. Standouts included numbers adorned with shells and a wonderful addition of animalier prints into her repertoire. -Naveed Hussain
