Martha Stewart Keeps The Style Coming with Michael Kors

Reason Number 999 to love Martha Stewart: Oh, snap!

That’s what Martha said when an audience member asked her how to make 18 dozen cookies in a post-show question yesterday.

Then, of course, Martha got down to business with her no-nonsense, down-to-earth way of mastering any task with style

I had the pleasure of being invited to yesterday’s edition (you can catch the encore today at 1 PM ET) of THE MARTHA STEWART SHOW on The Hallmark Channel. The audience enthusiasm was palatable- notwithstanding the warm-up guy who kept the energy high, these were dedicated everywoman (and a few men) fans of Martha who couldn’t get enough of their mistress of haute home ec.

I have to say that I too have always been in I awe of the way Martha Stewart— without apologies or schmaltzy staged enthusiasm– can make anything look elegant and easy.

And, if it’s not, she will ask the question that you were thinking.

Just as she did on yesterday’s show with Michael Kors when shown a vacation photo of the designer on a horse wearing sneakers while he was preparing his Grandma Bea’s Pineapple Upside Down Cake.

Martha Stewart: A little later on, we are going to get a very special preview of the resort collection, all inspired by a trip you took.

Michael Kors: Yeah, an amazing trip I took out West. And I’m the last person you’d imagine on a horse. I think we might have a picture. I’m an urban kind of boy but…

Martha Stewart: Oh, there you are. Look! But you have sneakers on. You don’t even have riding boots?

Michael Kors: I know! I didn’t realize I was riding until I got there.

Martha Stewart: You’re supposed to be a fashion icon!

Michael Kors: I know. Well you know, fashion icon in sneakers. What can I tell you?

What he can tell you, is the Michael Kors Collection for Resort 2011 is inspired by the beauty of the West and it’s sustainability.

Having a place out west, I can tell you wearing sneakers on a horse is the dead on giveaway that giddyup is not in your blood… you should know Brad’s constant ribbing of my try at rodeo lessons this summer!

The mini Michael Kors 2011 Resort fashion show included looks made of organic cashmere, organic lace, mud cloth– which is sink satin buried with mud for a modern tie dye effect– an ombre long dress because “nothing beats a Western sunset,” and a modern take on a fuller long skirt because the word ballgown frightens Michael Kors as it is so old fashioned.

You might like to now that the designer also said that “walkable shoes are back in style.” The two Michel Kors must- haves for fall are a camel coat and a saddle or luggage handbag that’s a bit "Grace Kelly goes rock and roll" uptoen meets downtown vibe.

Yes, Martha Stewart did take an extra bite of the yummy ice cream from the 2nd segment after the cameras were rolling… she does eat what she preaches!
