What to wear: How about something with rounded shoulders?

A little trend sleuthing diary for y’all…

Yeah, yeah, plenty of you go to great lengths at the gym to beef them up but rounded shoulders, when it comes to clothing, it looks oh so right on trend.

After we ran our top New York Fashion Week fall trends report  with sculpted forms being one of the biggest standouts, I became obsessed with the look of a more ample rounded shoulder.

What was shown in fashion shows would not be in stores for months. But, yes, to the power of inspiration and being ahead of the pack- the runway is merely a launch point to see things a different way.

Suddenly, I started to think about those big rounder shouldered trench coats that Yves Saint Laurent designed in the 80s. A little lucky eBay sleuthing and one was mine. Presto.

A few pit stops in the stores produced a cute Jason Wu parka that was on sale as it was already late in the season and fashionably ahead of itself.

Digging to the very back of my coat closet unearthed a few Muglers that I haven’t decided to pull out of retirement just yet. But they are waiting in the wings.

I like to balance a larger rounder shoulder over something lean, like pants that fall just around your ankle for some breathing room. Jackets with a defined waist look pretty over a midi skirt worn with an ankle boot.

I’m temporarily sated on the look of something fuller but pulled pretty rounded shoulder goodies for you to consider to add to your wardrobe:
