BCBGMaxAzria Fall 2013 Runway Review: A hard rock gypsy walked the runway of the BCBGMaxAzria Fall 2013 show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. I have a strong feeling the boho gypsy vibe will carry a large presence for Fall 2013, and BCBG keeps a tough edge to the overall look with quilted leather, colorblocked fur, and sexy leather boot/leggings.  The softness of our gypsy girl is seen in delicate laser cut-outs and off-whites with large scale embroideries.

The deep colors true to autumn carry the line, that ox blood red continues to be strong, and here we see a lot of creamy whites – could this be the new black?! Probably not…but it adds a romantic touch to chilly Fall dressing.

The oversize menswear-esque outerwear pieces will be a great investment – elongated bombers, pieced moto jackets, and longer length dress coats will have you ladies craving to dress like your male counterparts. And the fur – tons! It is Fall/Winter after all. I don’t stand for fur much, but I was ooo-ing and ahhh-ing at the strong colorblocked coats and especially the cute fur bomber.

Going back to the gypsy tune; the huge prints and placed graphics are a beautiful pairing with the hard leather and fur pieces. And the precious laser cutting gives the leather dresses a feminine attitude. Those pieces are a huge take-away.

No pleats or dropped waists in this BCBG line, but if you can punch up your existing wardrobe with wildly printed gypsy frocks and slouchy outerwear, than this line is your calling. And go for the creamy whites – they’ll lighten up the dark early nights of Fall/Winter! — Alix Kivlin
