Overall Look: Grungy, perfectly imperfect nails

Nail Inspiration: Tess Giberson’s Spring/Summer 2014 Collection played off the word “remix” and how to unify a mix of various elements: poetic, feminine, cool, strong, organic and minimal. To offset the “preppy” feel of certain pieces, Jin Soon Choi created a distressed, yet chic nail that added an edgy element to the overall look.

How-To Steps:

1. File and clean nails, removing all traces of polish

2. Apply one coat of JINsoon Obsidian, a black polish with striking galaxy-like flecks

3. Using a makeup sponge, gently wipe off polish, leaving color only around cuticle and haphazard streaks down the nail

Tools:

  • Nail File
  • Makeup sponge
  • Nail polish remover

Products:

  • JINsoon Obsidian

Well, would you wear this grungy nail color? It’s hip to look like you really need a trip to the nail salon. In ace, you love the nail look, here’s how to achieve it? This morning, Jin Soon Choi created a grungy, perfectly imperfect nail for Tess Giberson’s Spring/Summer 2014 New York Fashion Week Show.

Yesterday afternoon, Jin Soon designed a modern nail that paid tribute to the nomadic American travelers of the 1920s for TIBI’s Spring/Summer 2014 New York Fashion Week Show.

Nail art took the runway for Christian Siriano’s SS ’14 show with color-blocked nails, designed by Red Carpet Manicure celebrity manicurist Lisa Logan.

Lisa color-blocked nails using Red Carpet Manicure’s “Fake Bake” as a base, and stripes of a neon yellow “The Perfect Pair.” The yellow ‘popped’ by layering “White Hot” underneath, creating even more contrast between the colors.

“After seeing the colors and prints and collaborating with Christian, I knew we had to do something that was as dramatic and powerful in the lightest way possible to match the collection itself,” said Logan. “Red Carpet Manicure’s products are so easy to work with and enable not only manicurists like myself, but the everyday consumer, to translate trends seen at New York Fashion Week into nail art statements.”
