Spring saw Dolce and Gabbana take yet another tour of Italy, mining some of the country’s best fashion moments once again, and remarkably, the collection was as strong as ever.

A focused divide between voluptuous skirts and frocks and square top shapes that sit away from the body brought to mind that there’s more to Italian fashion history than sex and glamour. While coins, gold lace, polka dots,  metallic decorations, 3-D florals and Roman columns worked to push their homage to the old world with enough maximalism that the look was downright romantic. And save for the few colored furs, every look was easily wearable and well-considered.

Take a look at the entire collection, which like we said, has something for everyone. The trick you’ll want to emulate is looking for pieces that started with a story, or a point of view. These aren’t just simply pretty clothes, they work as a celebration of heritage, femininity, and craft.
