Direct from Milan: Mens Style Spring 2014 Runway Trends & How to Wear them…
Ok guys, some of you want to put their peacock feathers on and we have some men’s style from Milan, from everyday to avant garde.
Spring 2014 Mens Collections saw the city up its ante on style with a dozen or so incredibly strong outings, chock full of inspiration for now. In all, classic tech sport apparel met romanticism for a duality that wasn’t unnecessarily intellectual, but instead full of wearable, great items. Think rethought and repurposed sweatshirts, bomber jackets, shorts, and t-shirts that were fresh, and easy on the wear.

Bomber Jackets-

Why wear it? At Calvin Klein, summery striped bomber jackets were cleverly layered over each other to make known the fact that if you don’t have a bomber style jacket by now, you ought to get one, or two. Seriously on trend and quite easy to source, a well proportioned bomber jacket is key for seasons to come. And by the looks of it, you can find just about any style to match your spirit, from printed to military, anything goes.

Bermuda Basketball Shorts-

Why wear it? Many designers took sport inspirations as an opportunity to finely meld comfort, function, and style all at once, culminating in a parade of roomy shorts. Specifically Bermuda’s and boxing styles that allow for relaxed luxury that is easy to pull off. Just be sure to find a pair that boasts superior fabrication and subtlety.

Digital Techno Prints-

Why wear it? After making a wave at women’s collections over the years, digital prints made a big impact on many of the collections sweatshirts, bomber jackets, and t-shirts. Look for the unusual -a standout print highlighted in off-set colorways with clever placement.
Florals-
Seen at: Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabanna, Diesel Black Gold
Why wear it? For the first time in ages, bold florals made for a welcome option on the men’s runways in Milan as they worked to soften some of the top collections sportier inclinations. Such as at Gucci, where moody yet elegantly rendered botanicals created both an air of opulence and playfulness while loosening up the serious side of athletic and sporty mainstays.
Classic Single-Breasted Gray Suit-
Seen at: Bottega Venetta, Brioni, Dolce & Gabbana, Ermengildo Zegna, John Varvatos
Why wear it? From pure and pale at Ermengildo Zegna to smokey and ultra fitted at Dolce & Gabbana, gray suiting makes for a more realistic option during warmer months. For spring, keep layering simple with fine knits and short sleeve button downs while in fall, you can transition that same suit with heavy layering. Plus a great gray suit can work as a go-to for more statement making add-on’s.
