Oscar Dress Red Carpet Review

Fashion’s Best, Worst, and Plenty in the Middle on the Academy Awards Red Carpet

It’s the morning after and which star wore the most memorable Oscar Dress?

Truth be told, less is more when it comes to the perfect Oscar dress unless you aim to make a big bold statement on the red carpet.

It’s unfortunate that so many stylists got the memo on frothy dresses with full skirts and plenty of trains because by the end of the evening it was almost impossible to tell each ‘top of the wedding cake’ dress from the next. But I do know that their celebrity inspired knock-offs will be coming to a prom near you.

That said, we’re going to talk about the major fashion statement making risk takers, the queens of timeless chic. Whether it be simple or dramatic, love them or hate them, these Oscar dresses are the ones that are the most memorable.

Sandra Bullock had to have the most psychic-worthy dress, a stunning, gleaming gold column that was the perfect compliment to her Oscar. The fashion gods will be kvelling for years about her timeless chic.

Carey Mulligan looked adorable and modern in a whimsical Prada number with an unexpected dangling scissors, forks, and spoons.

Maggie Gyllenhaal dressed in a fresh blue print Dries Van Notten column that spotlighted both her individuality and her figure.

The icy pale queens of perfect construction were Diane Krueger wearing Chanel Haute Couture and Jennifer Lopez and Amanda Seyfried, both wearing Giorgio Armani Privé- the craftsmanship of these three stellar dresses is exactly why one would opt to wear couture if they could.

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy Haute Couture and Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture will probably take the most fashion police howls for the evening and, by far, are the biggest Oscar dress risk takers.

I love them!

In show business you want to keep them excited about you, keep them talking, and never let them forget you… these very fashiony dresses proved just that. The unfortunate part about both dresses is that their beauty was only best photographed at certain angles, the wrong photo cut and they looked strange. Love these lavender extravaganzas or hate them, but you must admit that you will never forget them.

Here’s a fashion tip that doesn’t cost a dime: Stand straight!
Yes, you Miley Cyrus. You are a big girl now, will you please stand up straight with your shoulders back? If you can’t, let’s not emphasis sloping shoulders and lousy posture and try a wear a dress with more structure on top.
