Nina Ricci Fall 2014

The Paris insider report: I attended the Nina Ricci  Fall 2014 show during Paris Fashion Week. Held once again at the giant tent in the Tuileries by place de la Concorde, the show was last Thursday at 5PM.

I got there a little early to see the pre fashion show before the show, meaning the cavalcade of fashionistas (I hate that word and have never used it, but it this case it’s appropriate) and fashion victims walking down the white vinyl runway entering the show venue.

There were smash hits but equally as many doozies a.ka. “did you bother to look in the mirror before you left the house” looks.

The show started fashionably late, 5:40, as they always do. Interior decoration was the inspiration for the collection by Peter Coppingand he used brocade, felt, jacquard, and velvet.  The highlight of the collection was the ultra feminine evening dresses with lacy, see through cutouts in blood orange and black. Daywear consisted of a mix of somber colors with a touch or red and lavender thrown in, lots of fur collars and fur accessories, and a couple of voluminous wool coats.
