With head-to-toe prints now de riguer on runways around the world it’s time to cozy up to one of our favorite fall prints and fabrications as the alluring, graphic and even sexy use of snake & python we saw for Fall 2011 felt undeniably fresh.
Use them to add texture to all of your favorite fall looks while keeping up with the trends…here’s a look at how to pull it off.
Prada (and above)
Miuccia Prada used python coats, boots and aviator inspired headpieces to add a subversively sexy and confident bent to her otherwise ultra-femme collection of 60’s inspired dolly dresses.
Chloe’s mad assortment of snake & python whether in print or in skin offered a lush variety of girlie go-to dresses and uber-chic separates such as the ethereal chiffon beauty above.
Leave it to Missoni to add a riotous technicolor burst of energy to the trend with this lush collaged python maxi coat that’s destined to get a lot of use and a lot of envious attention for its over-the-top cool appeal.
From Valentino came one of our favorite boots for the season that are the perfect graphic accompaniment to winter coats & jackets.
What to look for-
- In the Mix: When it comes to snake prints, there are plenty of complimentary fabrications to mix & match with such as chunky knits, furs or even the softest silk chiffon -you basically can’t go wrong!
- Keep it Simple: Bold skins and prints call for simpler, heritage minded shapes and proportions
- Flaunt: Since there is no denying that snake in skin and in print can be a little show off-y, remember to wear yours with confidence
- Dress it Up: Use the fabrication for looks that verge more on the posh side rather than the casual, after all, there is a time & place for everything -Naveed Hussain
