The Top Five Trends from Paris Couture Fashion Week to give a go and refresh your look while staying easily on trend.
Ok, admittedly, I doubt that you or I will have the opportunity to get to a real haute couture fitting. Or even borrow a couture dress to wear on the red carpet.
The prices are insane (think a year of private school tuition and above).
The workmanship is unbelievable.
And the scarcity is just so.
So why should you care about haute couture?
Because as the ladies in the C’est Chic Crash Course come to know, inspiration is all around you. You just need to let it in.
THIS is where the very few designers privileged to be part of the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Paris get to play in the most fabulous way.
Ideas brim. Limits are forgotten. And Inspiration abounds.
So Naveed and I made it really easy for you to get inspired and bring the vibe of haute couture into you life. Right now.
Leave the fantasy gowns to those ready for the red carpet and take what you can from any runway – cues on how to stay current so you feel and look your best and have some fun while you’re at it.
Who doesn’t dress for their own joy?
At every show, what really struck a chord were the amount of different characters represented. From real world office appropriate suiting to cocktail hour, there was something for every spirit, whatever you may be. There was the breathtaking, the daring, and the natural, all ready for you to try.

Bee Motifs-
Seen at: Chanel(left), Dior(right)
Make it yours: Call it a coincidence that bee’s were a buzz at both Chanel & Dior as they made playful additions to otherwise grownup looks.
Smart Suits-
Seen at: Chanel
Make it yours: With a midi length skirt in a variety of shapes, Chanel made a strong case for the merits of a skirt suit. That length makes you appear leaner, and when paired with a chic jacket cropped or tunic length, you’ll instantly look put together with two easy pieces.

Sleeve Emphasis-
Seen at: Alexandre Vauthier(left), Giambattista Valli(right), Chanel
Make it yours: Spring saw many designers highlighting unexpected sleeves from bishop to bell. Shoulder cut-out’s seem especially wise as climates rise and allow you to reveal an area that almost no one has issues with.
Graphic Content-
Seen at: Chanel, Dior(left), Versace(right)
Make it yours: While the looks above feature tricky silhouettes that might not be right for you, they do have sharp, graphic elements to take note of. From origami folds evoking a gentle spirit to cut-out’s set to create a grid, going graphic lets the eye focus on easy interest without the distraction of print.
Easy Beauty-
Make it yours: At Dior and many a show, the cult of personalities walking down the runway saw hair and makeup simple yet punctuated with a bold lip. Keeping the eye on which sartorial direction you chose to go.
