Burberry Prorsum Autumn Winter 2012 Womenswear Collection Runway Review:

Burberry’s Christopher Bailey looked to the directional trend of contrasting elements and fabrications and the house’s history and combined  town & country elements with rigorous styling that gave off a personal, quirky vibe.

Overall, the collection had a tight selection of silhouettes that all boasted a cinched, figure defining waist that was ladylike while at the same time universal in its age spectrum. Diagonal ruffled skirts were part of the mix while pencil skirts, sculptural coats and jackets featured pockets that evoked the subtle drama of Dior’s celebrated bar jackets.

A standout from the range was a trench coat with contrasting tweed panels on each side that added a flouncy, flirtatious depth and made for an on the mark statement at merging the practical with the extraordinary.

Prim though those initial shapes were, proper styling made for a collection that could go seamlessly from runway to reality without changing a thing, and that’s something special to say the least.
