Cannes Do Chic Red Carpet Elegance + Grace Worth An Inspirational Look

I’ll Have What She’s Having: Easy, elegant chic red carpet fashion that you wish you saw come out of Hollywood but really can pull off for YOUR next big night out

I hope some of you spend the weekend getting your closet organized thanks to yesterday’s tips on How to Clean Out Your Closet and What to Toss for a Business Chic Wardrobe.  I know I will be binging, purging, and editing my closet this weekend when I’m not on the year-end cruise around Manhattan for my son’s school (how did an entire school year fly by?).

With all those clothes flying across your bedroom floor (ditch that fuzzy sweater already), I you want to take pause and consider a bit of inspirational elegance & grace via the red carpet at the Cannes Film Film Festival for its first two nights.

MORE: Cannes Do Chic

I have to admit that for me, red carpets have mostly become a freak show schmaltz-a-thon and rather boring. Looking at a frozen face 40+ celebrity in a frothy ballgown cum prom dress has nothing to do with anyone else’s real life dressing– at least not in my world and probably not in yours either.

Then, there’s Cannes, the chic red carpet.

Where for the most part, the red carpet brims with easy, elegant, and classy  looks to inspire you to amp your individual style.

 Ines de la Fressange

Ines de la Fressange in a simple sheath above and flowing white number in the photo gallery below understands the power of just the right accessories to complete a look. The bright pink envelope bag above and clean gold cuff are all that are needed to keep this look easy and chic. Note her signature Roger Vivier buckle FLATS with worn with her white gown in the photo gallery. Natural makeup, undone hair, and a light tan complete the styling.

Off the red carpet, think of this as inspiration for a dressy summer night, and maybe ditch your heels for a pair of walkable flats.

Frida Pinto
Frida Pinto

Frida Pinto has become one of my favorites on the red carpet for her understanding and ease of what flatters her figure while always looking elegant and modern. THIS is how I want to see sequins and beading. Nothing heavy-handed, not tacky, and in just the right shade of pewter to compliment her skin tone. Divine.

Translate the feel of this look with a beaded top and Capri pants for dinner in the Hamptons or your favorite summer resort. Keep the soft ponytail and vibrant red lips for understated glam.

Ludivine Sagnier

The tea length of Ludivine Sagnier‘s navy lace dress makes it more accessible for “regular” off the carpet wear. It’s fuller, but not overwhelming, skirt is flattering on most figure types and doesn’t call for a double pair of Spanx to fit!

Note all the classic touches: Timeless black satin pumps and small clutch bag, a smokey eye, nude lips and red nails, perfect chandelier earrings that keep this looking rich, elegant, and ageless.
