Leg Work- Spring 2012’s Best Footwear -Celine, Dries Van Noten, Rochas, Yves Saint Laurent

After seasons of major statement making shoes with mind-boggling heel heights and preposterous ornamentation, we’re really feeling the simplicity of the footwear options we saw on the runways for next spring.

Yves Saint Laurent (and above)

With heeled loafers making the top of our footwear lists this current season and for that matter, the past few season’s as well, YSL’s brass shielded versions in bubbly pink and sea-foam green strike a chord with fashion’s urban warrior in a completely unexpected manner and are probably our favorite shoes of the season.

Celine

The platforms at Celine may have made for the perfect accompaniments to Pheobe Philo’s dolly girl shapes and Asiatic pajama pants with their red soles and thick heels, but we think they’d jazz up just about any kind of look from jeans to sunny day dresses.

 Rochas

Platform mirrored slides and mules added a whimsical 70’s inspired punctuation to the house’s gorgeous retro inspired 50’s glamor girls in their full-skirted looks.

Dries Van Noten

Just like at Celine, there was a nod to the far east with Dries Van Noten’s platform wrap sandals however his, with their partially wrapped toes, clear plastic and metallic straps were a completely original and modern take on the classic Japanese silhouette. -Naveed Hussain
