New York Fashion Week Highlight: All the prints were oversize but still so delicate and evoking the callings of Art Nouveau, any true girl will love to wear them.

More from New York Fashion Week…A pure and refreshing tone was set with Nanette Lepore’s Fall 2011 collection of airy pieces, complimented with chunky knits, tweeds and leather. There was a streak of black leather and delicate dark prints, otherwise the palette was warm creams, champagne tones, soft greys and some punches of sea foam blue. All the prints were oversize but still so delicate and evoking the callings of Art Nouveau, any true girl will love to wear them. Nearly every dress in this collection is covetable, and I would put confidence in all the beautiful thick sweaters. The occasional true sportswear looks are a safe bet for day into evening – brushed wools in the form of tailored jackets and that great wide leg pant layered with a shimmering, ruffle camisole. The jacket comes off and you’re ready for cocktails! – Alix Kivlin, words & photos
