Runway Review: Architecturally balanced pieces in grown-up and sophisticated colors worthy of a woman who achieved a certain sense of acclaim in her life, or just wants to look that way.

When it comes to day wear, a presentation, rather than runway show, is best if the clothes are design worthy. It gives you the chance to take pause and savor the details, rather than the flash going by.

Rachel Roy understands how to dress a woman in away that she wants to dress. In her Fall 2012 fashion week presentation for her collection named, “Modern Landscape,”  models lined Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln center flanked by the cityscape background. The collection, as the line notes describe as “Strong, linear architectural silhouettes balanced with natural elements” are on point for how a sophisticated woman wants to present herself.

Strong looks in colors that are on trend and flattering to most complexions rather than being trendy and garish. The purple array was the most striking, particularly the subtle use of the color blocking trend, photo above,  that seemed to evoke more of striation of colors rather than what is becoming an overused trend of the season. Greens were more in shades of forest and subtle, yet still bold, thus making for the perfect addition of color to even a devoted follower of basic black.
