Never one to be dictated by trends or the ho-hum confines of ‘reality’ dressing, Reem Acra’s latest outing saw the designer’s deft hand at creating decadent party dresses rife with strength and sex appeal work its way into polished separates perfect for days when you need to look your best.

Using a strict palette comprising mostly of ebony and gold, the real news here was Acra’s addition of figure defining, body-con shapes that had a pared down feel as many other designers in her arena continue to whip up frothy, voluminous propositions.

And while those event gowns spanned a disparate sense of references from the 20’s to the 70’s, there was plenty of winners in the lot, save for a few mishaps with come-hither slits and exposed panels that left little to the imagination.

For day, leather was proposed in sleek silhouettes while her suits combined a pencil skirt and a nip-waisted, shrunken jacket combination that had a vaguely retro appeal as you could see them working magic on a modern-day Grace Kelly.
