Repeat Offender – Wear something you haven’t worn in a month, A NEW WAY

As the balmier days of the season come to a close, it’s time to wear something on repeat, but refreshed for one last wear. Those rethink it moments:

And why not? With many of your go-to winter closet constants about to make way for the spring season ahead, consider the possibilities of one last wear, rethought for a sartorial boost. And whether you’ve been paying attention to our classic foundation mantra or not, you’ll have no problem translating a key piece with ease with these simple cues.

Before you bid adieu to your winter finery, go through your wardrobe and pick a favorite item from each category and pull them out front and center.  Think about how you wore them the last time, and quickly survey what did & didn’t work that time around.

For each category, consider these spins for a new approach:

Dresses: A dress is one of the easiest pieces to work with, same goes for a jumpsuit. Simply switch your layering extras out for something light weight, and in a bolder color to signal the seasonal transition. Instead of a chunky knit, opt for a fluid blazer and a silk neck scarf, and ditch the tights and boots for bare legs and less cumbersome shoes.

Accessories: This time of the year is all about convertible layering as the weather remains erratic so if an elegant cashmere scarf begs to be worn one last time, lose the sweater and wear it over a crisp white button down. Or if a boot is just too stylish to think about waiting an entire season to re-wear, opt for a shorter skirt in a lighter weight.

Pants: The same as the above applies for pants. Instead of a bulky swathe of knits, pair a wool pleated pant with a languid silk blouse. And while you’re at it, break those wool suits up and pair them with separates for extra wear.

Knits: Pair knits with the unexpected, say a chunky fisherman boatneck with pleated khaki wool shorts or a short skirt. And over a silk dress, an oversized sweater is quite a comfortable option. –Naveed Hussain
