GET THE CUSTOM JEANS YOU WANT

What To Do When Classic Becomes Scarce Dear Sharon: When I saw the retail invasion of hip hugging, bellbottom, dangling, faded blue jeans I thought the cool kids today are going to be hippies again. Since I am mid-forty, I could relate to this trend. However, who would have thought that when it came time to replenish my classic straight-leg jeans stock, I would be faced with the dilemma of only seeing this hippie style or women's casual/dress jeans that have elastic waists or pleated fronts in the stores? I no longer can wear the styles I wore when I was a teenager and suddenly cannot find basic five-pocket "normal jeans". Even my favorite jean is now cut differently. I was so

LOCO FOR LOGOS- Get The Luxe Look In Logo Handbags For Less

Dear Sharon: Designer logo handbags are all over the place. It seems like every magazine I flip through, every department store ad I notice, and just about every chichi woman I see is going loco over logos. I don't want to be left out of this trend. I need to get a new purse, but cannot afford to pay top dollar for some of these status bags. I've seen logo look-alikes in some stores in my mall that are hard pressed to distinguish from the real thing. What do you think? -Bag Lady Dear Bag Lady: What do I think? Just listen to the latest rant from the Cheerleaders For Fashion: Louis Vuitton. Gucci. Fendi. Dior. How do you spell it? We

THE SUIT STRIKES BACK…

THE SUIT STRIKES BACK... The once fashion staple make a comeback The once fashion staple make a comeback Separates have been a mainstay in our wardrobes, and let's face it, good suits are darn expensive for something that typically can only be fashionably finagled with the switch of a blouse or shoe. Then, there's that generation who never wore anything more formal than a black sheath dress with a knit cardigan. Not to mention the Internet community who prides itself on the sportier the better. Wanna see more? After some time, the switch to the power suit can be almost as much fun as discovering your inner rock star. So here comes the fashion industry ready at the heels to

Handbag trends to hold on to

Paring Down A Purse Fetish how much is too much   Dear Sharon: I have recently simplified my wardrobe and have a closet with everything I absolutely love. Suddenly, getting dressed is so easy. Now I need to do the same for my handbags. I presently own about 50 designer bags (Louis Vuitton, Longchamps, Coach, Chanel, Kate Spade, etc.) and it's a pain to store them. I want to simplify, but I am having a hard time. My question: How many handbags do you need for a great basic simple wardrobe? Before you answer, here's some info about me: I am a town and country style, mother of a four year old and one year old, so I favor large

THE TRAVELIN’ BOOGY-WOOGIE STRESS BUSTING SURVIVAL GUIDE…

THE TRAVELIN' BOOGY-WOOGIE STRESS BUSTING SURVIVAL GUIDE... Tips To Remain Calm, Collected, and Beautiful Tips To Remain Calm, Collected, and Beautiful Sweet sister of strenuous familial baggage, your only defense is a well thought out offence to conquer the travelin' boogy-woogies and soar above the mindless riff-raff rants of those relatives who are too absorbed in their own woe begotten inertia to say anything positive. Look at it this way, at least they care enough about you to rally in their two-cents worth of left-handed compliments and intrusive questionings. Knowing their personalities, you'd probably feel ostracized if they clammed up. Between your ego-elevating affirmations and gulps of rehydrating H2O, boost yourself with some feel-good treats before you set out on

AN ICON FOR MEN’S STYLE… The Thomas Crown Affair celebrity tailor tips you off on how to look great

The Thomas Crown Affair celebrity tailor tips you off on how to look great If you cannot decipher chic from geek, flash to film and television to see what an actor's wardrobe brings to mind. Think about the wrinkled raincoat Peter Falk wore as disheveled Colombo. Why Richard Gere's polished wardrobe in American Gigolo catapulted Giorgio Armani's fame. There's Will Smith's funky, but of course black suit, in Men In Black. The character Oscar Madison in any rendition of The Odd Couple should be the poster boy for Scotch Guard. Men no longer dared to wear pastels after Don Johnson in Miami Vice made Jordan Almond colors cool. And, we won't even go to where Tinky Winky of the Teletubbies
