Aganovich, the small label to watch from Paris Fashion Week

Aganovich Fall 2012
Aganovich Fall 2012 Paris Fashion Week Notes from Paris... It's quite the scene here in the city of light this week as it's Paris Fashion Week for the Fall 2012 season. Fashion designers are madly racing to put the finishing touches on their collections, while fashion show attendees, groupies, fashion bloggers, buyers, and magazine editors are all scurrying breathlessly from one show to the next. Aganovich Fall 2012 I met Brooke Taylor and Nana Aganovich, the founders of the label Aganovich, a few years ago and covered their first show in 2010. I have been following them ever since I took a liking to their thoughtful approach to their collections. This season their show was presented in a cavernous former car repair garage on rue du Turenne

Balenciaga F/W 2012 Full Collection- Paris Fashion Week

After more than a decade at the helm of one of fashion's most influential labels, mastermind Nicolas Ghesquiere was back with another winner of a collection with this time's goal focusing on thoroughly modern updates to the working girl's wardrobe. >> MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS Combined with slinky patch worked chiffon dresses, sculptural a-line ra-ra skirts and bi-color pants that were the coolest we've seen yet, Ghesquiere worked wonders with uniform dressing by mashing the ho-hum banality of smart separates with his sic-fi, 80's era techno-Parisian inclinations for one heck of a remarkable, wearable collection, Balenciaga Fall 2012 View the entire collection in our gallery: [nggallery id89] Shop Balenciaga Online Now: More Balenciaga... Maison Martin Margiela F/W 2012 Full Collection- Paris Fashion Week

Subverted & tweaked plays on tailored workwear made for a sober yet challenging outing from the atelier of Maison Martin Margiela. And while and a bulk of the collection was composed of tricky slashed & spliced separates that evoked a linear silhouette, there was also plenty of reworked, rethought basics to add a witty albeit overtly conceptual twist to your repertoire. >> MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS Among the mix were a winning selection of classic outerwear and some terrific skirts to boot. Azzaro F/W 2012 Full Collection- Paris Fashion Week

Hailing from Lanvin, Mathilde Castello Branco's debut collection at Azzaro may not have been a game changer when it comes to the label's signature, refined party dresses, but she did manage to add a few subtle notions to the label's precise direction. >> MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS Amidst the pretty, pitch perfect gala ready offerings were a few unexpected pieces that had Lanvin's more relaxed, off-kilter take on dramatic elegance and a felicitous card print featuring jacks & spades. And while there's really no news within the line-up, it does appear that Azzaro has found a proper successor to Vanessa Seward, the designer who imagined the rigorous codes that Branco navigated so well this time around. See by Chloe F/W 2012 Full Collection- Paris Fashion Week

Although See by Chloe has remained a quiet yet increasingly salable & lucrative secondary line to high-end French go-to label Chloe, it comes as somewhat of a welcome surprise to see the offshoot finally make it's runway debut after ten years in business. And while other respective labels like Marc by Marc Jacobs have been garnering rave runway reviews over the last decade, it seems as though larger European houses have been reticent to shine a light on their often more affordable & attainable diffusion lines -hopefully until now. >> MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS With the likes of Carven and Cacherel gaining moment while cornering the same market and with the state of the economy as it is, it makes for a

Blumarine F/W 2012 Full Collection- Milan Fashion Week

Runway Review: An unexpected dose of sexuality and ultra-glam streetsmart fashion made Blumarine a Fall 2012 standout amidst Milan's moodier collections. In their words: 'POSITIVELY SHINING' Fluid lines and shapes deconstructed by cut-out details. Understated urbanwear in the cold tones of white, hazelnut and dove grey, with glints of silver and platinum. Textural consistency and plastic volumes, with couture finishes and high-tech layers, create a new daily luxury with three-dimensional effects. Rubber, Perspex, Plexiglass, PVC and nylon in measured layers or strictly minimalist. Extra-glossy monochromatic surfaces with a liquid effect in mirror and opalescent finishes reinvent ultra-contemporary silhouettes in the laser-cut daywear with activewear details or bon chic like the classic trench coat introduced in shiny python or patent leather, the ‘petit manteaux’ in the laminated version

Runway Review: From Cavalli expect a heady dose of deluxe fabrications that are certain to set your night a sizzle come Fall. “An earthly paradise populated by creatures of fantasy... the Eden of femininity ... my creativity is expressed through clothes which make the Cavalli woman a sensual and mysterious being.” -Roberto Cavalli Roberto Cavalli Fall 2012 >> MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS In their words: The prints come from hand-painted canvas, exhibited backstage at the fashion show, representing animal skins. The ‘trompe l'œil’ effect is enhanced by the illusory mix of pythons leather printed with tiger or jaguar motifs, furs printed with python motif, pony skins transformed into crocodile. Imaginary animals from pure fantasy are born. The silhouette: very short or
