Dear Sharon: I want a new hairstyle for summer. I’m obsessed about all the boho clothes and bold colors in fashion now and think my long hair looks pretty blah by comparison. Can you tell me about some new hot summer hairstyles with some how-to tips that I can style at home? – A Breathe of Fresh Hair (Northridge, CA)

Dear Fresh Hair: Forget about flat irons and ironed straight hair that just hangs there. The top hair styles right now are all about texture and curls. There’s more of an easy-going, natural bounce and vitality to them that’s a perfect complement to the fullness and ornamentation in fashion this summer.

The new wave of hair trends are do’s that are easy to manage in summer humidity and long on fresh style. “If you do one thing this season, ensure it’s voluminous, tousled curls,” says hair stylist Adam Reed of the Charles Worthington Salon hair team. With a distinct wink to rediscover your inner flower child, braids has to be the hottest hair trend spotted from the runway to the real way of NY and LA’s hippest ‘hoods. Reed’s beachy, slightly tousled braided hairstyles that accompanied the feminine, boho-inspired Matthew Williamson Spring – Summer 05 fashion collection, is the perfect stylemaker for any summer occasion from casual day to fun night out.

To keep you right in the fashion hair groove, we’ve asked the top hair gurus from the Charles Worthington Results’ and bumble & Bumble‘s hair teams to share some backstage secrets on how you can pull together the trendy hair looks of the moment at home.
