Dear Fresh Hair: Forget about flat irons and ironed straight hair that just hangs there. The top hair styles right now are all about texture and curls. Reed’s beachy, slightly tousled braided hairstyles that accompanied the feminine, boho-inspired Matthew Williamson Spring – Summer 05 fashion collection, is the perfect stylemaker for any summer occasion from casual day to fun night out.

To keep you right in the fashion hair groove, we’ve asked the top hair gurus from the Charles Worthington Results’ and bumble & Bumble‘s hair teams to share some backstage secrets on how you can pull together the trendy hair looks of the moment at home.

Backstage at the Matthew Williamson show, Charles Worthington Results’ Adam Reed paid homage to the carefree feeling of the season with his take on braids, texture and curls utilizing the entire Results Curl-Perfection line. Reed shows that with these easy steps and the right tools, anyone can recreate the runway look at home.

. Wash hair and condition with a products designed for curly hair..

. Rub a curl definition cream through damp hair and rough dry.

. Part hair with a deep side parting, take two front sections of the hair and braid each section, secure with a small snag-free hair tie.

. Leave hair loose at the back or tong with a medium-size curling iron

The look: For Baby Phat by Kimora Lee Simmons, Laurent Philippon braided thick ropes horizontally across the head ending with a feminine chignon at the ear. The look was R&B hip-hop meets 1920’s art deco. The look: Dennis Lanni worked with designer Rebecca Taylor to create an ethereal, fairy tale look. The hair was set with rubber bands folded over repeatedly with Bb. Holding Spray. The look: Accenting the ladies-who-lunch collection at Bill Blass, Jimmy Paul swept the hair up into a clean ponytail accented with a grosgrain ribbon. 80’s Pop

The look: Taking inspiration from a photo shoot with Iman in 1977, Editorial Stylist Jimmy Paul used a small barrel curling iron to create tight curls at the crown of the head, brushing them out for volume while the rest of the head was swept up in a tight, high updo. Walking the halls of “Heatherette High” with designers Richie Rich and Traver Rains, Editorial Stylist Laurent Philippon created slicked back small buns and placed them in unconventional places, and used hair pieces in two colors for girls getting ready for the prom. more 80’s Pop hairstyle photos
