Color of the Year- Rose Quartz and Serenity for 2016

Pantone announced its color of the year and for 2016, it's all about Rose Quartz and Serenity. The colors are all about calm and mindfulness as opposed to the richer Marsala, last year's color of the year. So, pack up your brights, the trend colors are all about muted pales for next year! Or, reworking pales you already have or can find on the sale rack, like the outfit pictured right. Easy Thanksgiving Holiday Recipes… because who wants to waste time in the kitchen?!

Whats' cooking at my house! Smells so good that I thought I'd share my Thanksgiving recipes with you  with some behind-the-scenes photos while I'm cooking!   For me, style is a lot like cooking.  You start with the best ingredients and the rest is easy. That's a main premise in the C'est Chic Crash Course- it's not about being precise, it's about having the know-how to instinctively get it together.  I'm not a fan of the typical turkey dinner with lot's of heavy food and sugar. So, here's my twist:Roasted Herb Turkey Breast-Made with what's in the house herbs mostly fresh, some dried. Thyme, Sage Rosemary, chopped garlic, dried Greek oregano, tri-color pepper, Himalayan sea salt, 2 kinds of parsley, cilantro,

Continue the white sneaker trend…

It's officially fall! The New York air is still mild but with that crisp autumn breeze. Not quite ready to commit to boots and too much of a chill for sandals. What to wear this weekend? Can't go wrong with (re)new(ed) classics like the Adiddas Stan Smith (see mine with the red trim below) or Superstar. Brights Lights Paris- a chic Francophile travel guide that you don’t need to leave home to enjoy

Are you dreaming of a Paris getaway? I've got a great quick read for you. Bright Lights Paris: Shop, Dine & Live . . . Parisian Style by Angie Niles is a chic Francophile travel guide that's as indispensable as a what to do in Paris guide as it is a how to dress like a Parisian tip sheet. The delightful book is so granular in its Parisian style observations that it even breaks down what the French girls wear arrondissement by arrondissement, that's neighborhood by chic neighborhood.  After all, you wouldn't want to look too Trocadéro (Paris's 16th arrondissement) when you're tooling around Le Marais (the 3rd arrondissement) now would you? Not planning a trip to Paris anytime soon? Don't worry, there are plenty of French

Beauty Quick Tip: Never let your lipstick linger

Kisses, not lipstick, should linger... I know it's cool --graphically-- to leave a lingering lip print in a photo... but in real life it's kinda tacky. Looking classy is all about the blot! Here's's what to do: Apply lipstick, blot with a single sheet of tissue, lightly set with face powder. Add a second layer of lipstick or gloss and lightly either blot again OR put your index finger in your mouth and pull out so that your finger "grabs" the extra lipstick. You'll be far more chic than leaving a glob of lipstick on your coffee cup, wineglass or napkin. The other solution is to use a chunky lipstick pencil (I like Nars) or more matte less goopy lipstick to begin with. What's your

Crop Pants, Culottes, Gaucho… whatever you want to call it, the mid length pant is perfect for transition to fall

Until the calendar officially changes, the weather may still be iffy warm but my mindset is totally in fall mode. Nothing says transition more than a pair of wide leg crop pants, gauchos, culottes or whatever name suits your fancy. The nuances of each are not as dramatic as the style power of the old school length that is new again. The mid length is great for when you're not quite ready to think about tights but want a little more coverage on bare legs. Style Tip: Balance the mid length pant with a chunkier heel ankle boot or shoe or a pair of sleek kicks or menswear flats.   Featured Theodasia Crop Pants from Club Monaco
