Best of New York Fashion Week- 3.1 Phillip Lim, Theyskens’ Theory, The Row, Preen- Spring 2012

3.1 Phillip Lim
Highlights from some of our favorite shows... MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS 3.1 Phillip Lim In a season where heavy handed prints have been the big story, 3.1 Phillip Lim's slouchy silks in sublime sorbet colors evoked a sporty ease and worked as a welcome urbane minded palette cleanser with a cool minimal, mellow edge. Taking a cue from sportif elements like track style vented pants made unexpected in languid silk, shorts layered over pants and slouchy full legged athletic shorts, the collection was a winner full of universal appeal and elegant pragmatism. His vivid pastels felt fresh and were a smart alternative to the hyper neons we've seen elsewhere and made a strong case for reserved elegance in a season where

Kate Middleton Trumps Michelle Obama With Her Reiss Dress

One for the Brits, but the First Lady makes up for it later! Sorry folks, but I have to give this one to the other team. I'm afraid to say that Mrs. Obama's dainty print, retro full skirt Barbara Tfank dress reminds me of another First Lady, Mamie Eisenhower, and, in my opinion, is not flattering to this First Lady's statuesque frame. But then there's the clean chic style that Michelle Obama hallmarked, this time worn by Kate Middleton. After the satorial success of her wearing a Reiss dress for when her engagement was announced, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge selected another Reiss dress to meet President and Mrs. Obama at Buckingham Palace on the first day of the President and

What First Lady Michelle Obama Wore- Marc by Marc Jacobs and Tracy Reese

Inbox Alert: Fashionable First Lady emails are still coming in like mad I've put a kibosh on reporting on what Mrs Obama has been wearing lately as I am : a) getting bored with the chronic pr emails about almost every bit of clothing that the First Lady wears and assume you are too. b) not always impressed with Mrs Obama's style as she gets more experimental and into a girlier mode, which I don't find as flattering on her figure asher signature clean chic crisp tailored pieces. c) would like the rest of the non-fashion media to spend some time focusing on her duties as a First Lady beyond her wardrobe. But never say never, as Michelle Obama selected

New York Comic Con Costumes, Halloween Just Came Early

Head's up, it's Halloween costume inspiration time! Comic-Con afficionados takes their costumes VERY seriously. And they say there are some wacky get-ups during Fashion Week, both off and on the runway! Sweeties, you have not seen nuttin' yet until you pay a visit to New York Comic-Con & Anime Festival where Halloween is ringing in 3 weeks early and dressing up as your favorite comic icon is the name of the game. This beats the Halloween parade for decked-out fantasy wear.
