Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen, offered a truly inspiring collection for Spring/Summer 2012 and in our books, one of the most exciting shows during Paris Fashion Week. Models had beautifully veiled eyes and expertly lace-bound heads, which immediately triggered my inspiration for illustrating some of the looks. As per usual, from New York collections one can expect pragmatic sportswear(the kind that doesn't often reinvent the wheel, maybe just spins it), from London one can expect out-of-this-world, well executed propositions and from Milan; riotous colors, bold adornments and brilliant uses of technological advancements in fabrications. Gucci and Emilio Pucci were among my favourite Spring/Summer 2012 collections from Milan Fashion Week. My three illustrated looks are the ones I loved the most from the Gucci catwalk show. Frida Giannini for Gucci delivered a seriously glamorous, yet very wearable collection, a blend of twenties elegance and the strong feminine style of the Gucci woman. Dresses and tops were twenties-influenced, with boyish fit,and feminine pleated chiffon skirts, main colours being white, black, green and gold.
