Curvy jeans with style…

Is having a womanly figure a curse for a flattering fit in jeans? I like to consider myself as stylish and pretty cool but when it comes to finding curvy jeans that fit my hourglass figure, it's out of the park on styles that will actually pull up over my hips and not gap around my midsection. Every time I go jeans shopping, I get more and more depressed as nothing ever fits me and I feel like a freak. I am otherwise a pretty much "normal" size 8 in every other piece of clothing and stand 5'6" tall. If I find jeans for curvy figures, the styles are so dated that I feel like I've aged 10 years with

NY Fashion Week: William Rast fashion show review

William Rast | Runway Fall 2009 Collection-Mercedes Benz Fashion Week… Yet another designer going with the rock ‘n roll theme– this time via Justin Timberlake– but this so far has been my favorite interpretation. Yes we are feeling the 80’s, yes we are feeling the punk rock, but in addition we are feeling the grunge / hipster vibe which helps to tone it down a bit and gives a sort of all American look. First off the William Rast collection is 70% denim which I love! Denim with studs, denim with fringe, denim with black lace, black denim with zippers…..it’s never ending how it got all tricked up. But tricked up so it does not look ridiculous, nearly every piece

How to wear jeans to a party… Advice on dressing up jeans

How to wear jeans to a party… Advice on dressing up jeans I'm invited to my friend's 40th birthday party. The party will be at a million dollar penthouse here in San Diego. Although my friends are California casual, would it be ok to wear "dressed up" jeans? I'm thinking jeans, strappy heels, a cute sleeveless shirt and a jacket? HELP advice is welcome.(San Diego, CA) I couldn't think of anything more modern than a pair of great fitting jeans, some sexy sandals, and a feminine top for a casual party at someone's home or a night out.  Since jeans have an automatic dressed down feel, they are the perfect prop to play up a super feminine or glitzy blouse

Low Rise Jeans… High Marks to Defy Age

Low Rise Jeans… High Marks to Defy Age I am in dire need of expert fashion advice. I am 36 years old with two young children under 10. Am I too old to wear ultra low-rise jeans and/or smart, casual ultra low rise pants? I am very thin with very good abdominals. The low cut fits well and my husband and I think they look very good, but is this style simply reserved for young women? Also, I bought my very first pair of open toed shoes. They are silver high heel dress shoes. My husband thinks they look like something a "Hoochie Mama" would wear. I don't even know how to wear them-period! What color clothing can I wear

GET THE CUSTOM JEANS YOU WANT

What To Do When Classic Becomes Scarce Dear Sharon: When I saw the retail invasion of hip hugging, bellbottom, dangling, faded blue jeans I thought the cool kids today are going to be hippies again. Since I am mid-forty, I could relate to this trend. However, who would have thought that when it came time to replenish my classic straight-leg jeans stock, I would be faced with the dilemma of only seeing this hippie style or women's casual/dress jeans that have elastic waists or pleated fronts in the stores? I no longer can wear the styles I wore when I was a teenager and suddenly cannot find basic five-pocket "normal jeans". Even my favorite jean is now cut differently. I was so

Please, Say It Isn’t So…

No Acid Washed Jeans! Please say it isn't so, the return of the acid washed jean. Oooohmoigawd! You just knew it was bound to happen one day. Someone, somewhere, somehow would revive the tackiest fashion fad of all time, acid washed jeans. Not to mention, the early Eighties style du jour-- super-skinny legs that zip up the ankle (how else can you get your foot into them?) and slashed all over the place. Don't forget that they are worn with white high heel pumps. Aw come on, you remember all those jokes about mall girls lollygagging around in them, don't you? Well, they're baaaaaaack!!!!! D&G just rocked the acid washed dolls out on the Milan runway for Fall 2001. Here's
