GOLDEN GLOBES FASHION- Loving the Minimalist Chic of Rooney Mara and Claire Danes

Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci
Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci Golden Globes Fashion Red Carpet Review: As the celebrities make their way through red carpet arrivals, it's clear the minimalist looks are the most stunning. It's easy to make a frothy dress look glam. Pile on the fabric, cinch in the waist, add some glimmer and the princess is good to go. But when it comes to sophisticated chic, a well-cut dress with strong lines is stunning beyond compare without wearing the wearer. Rooney Mara in perfect black Nina Ricci that she described to E! as being "comfortable and simple" is one of the most spectacular looks on the  red carpet that we've seen in a while. Well, except for the last time Rooney was on the

Pippa Middleton’s Fashion Mistake- Color Blocks Her Legs To Look Shorter

Pippa Middleton with her Aruna Seth Romana Bag
I (Don't) Want What She's Having: Legs that look stumpy from poor fashion choices Pippa Middleton, the every-girl style icon is looking decidedly edgy for herself. While the particular wash of her fuchsia jeans is not our favorite with its strange dye markings down the side, we appreciate her effort to spunk up a classic dark blazer with a burst of color paired with her go-to Aruna Seth Romina bag. But, here's where Pippa went wrong... Her calf-high black boots completely cut her body off into thirds! It's a color blocking disaster gone short and dumpy, while over-emphasizing muscular legs. The Aldo Elks bootie is short enough to create a longer leg and its platform will make Pippa's legs look even

How To (Not) Wear a Faux Fur Vest- the trend is trickier than it seems

What looks pretty on the model can be rather tricky on an everyday woman
Faux fur vests are probably one of the hottest fashion trends of the moment. The thing is that they are also rather tricky to wear. If you are not careful, you could look like a wild hairy beast that took over the mall. Not to mention that fur vests are not the most practical way to stay warm on anything other than a mild day. Let's get the faux fur vest trend right. Here we have a lovely, chic model wearing the Quotation: Sanctuary Original Natalie Faux Fur Vest from Bloomingdales, picture left above. To the right, we have a real woman buried in one too many trends of the moment, including a faux fur vest. Our real lady in the photo

Beyonce bought this lucite crib and it’s pretty darn fab!

Vetro Crib
I can see clearly now, the baby's here... First time moms always lament over the right crib to buy... I know I drove myself crazy. Cribs, for the most part, are not particularly decor friendly when you live in a modern home. Then there are the cribs that look like prisons with their  safety rails blocking view of the precious one. US magazine reports that Beyonce purchased a lucite Nurseyworks Vetro crib back in November for baby Blue Ivy. The crib has a hefty price tag, but if you can afford it, it offers a full-on view of baby so concerned parents can have an uninterrupted view of their little one. It's gorgeous and super sleek too. Available at Amazon.com

Chloe Pre-Fall 2012- The bar is set

Chloe Pre-Fall 2012
Chloe Pre-Fall 2012 There's no secret that we are fans of Chloe at FoS. Under the new creative direction of Clare Waight Keller, the directional message from  a go-to label continues to shine. The reason: Chloe continually delivers wearable, uber stylish clothes that are flattering on a modern woman, and this time around, more stream-lined. to smart wardrobe building. Take for instance, the red dress pictured left. It continues the figure-friendly long, lean pleated dresses from spring. The silhouette moves away from the body with a soft double weight for early fall in a very cheery, brilliant shade of tomato red; a perfect accomplice to the warm skin tone shades in the rest of the collection and a boost to your complexion! Paired with perfectly sculpted

Meryl Streep let the simplicity of her black Stella McCartney maxi dress work as an elegant foundation to highlight the subtle drama that her luminous navy cashmere Lindsay Thornburg cloak and gold Alexis Bittar necklace radiated at the European premiere of The Iron Lady in London.   While the carpet coincidentally matched her drapey cloak, Streep made a refined statement by letting her cloaks dramatic silhouette make a statement on the red-carpet while retaining an age-appropriate sense of easy, concise glamor and looks all the more sophisticated for it. Unadorned, ultra-chic navy & blue, so regal -you can't ever go wrong. Consider these classic finds that are destined to evoke a confident sense of glamorous appeal today: More Topshop...

Bogs and Sorel keep you looking stylish in cold weather
Traction + Style + Function Solved I always joke that I couldn't live full-time in an environment where my shoe choice is based on traction over style- no matter how gorgeous the outdoors may be. So, I was super psyched to road test some stylish winter boot contenders, particularly when I was away at my vacay place having fun in the snowy mountains! Looking fashionable is not always an easy task when it comes to frigid temperatures, but it is possible to find cold weather boots that don't put function over fashion. The Most Annoying Fashion and Beauty Masquerades of 2011

Kim Kardashian hawking her fragrance in Las Vegas
Or, veiled attempts by real women to impersonate drag queens! I continue to find it mind-boggling that a woman feels that to look attractive she must wear embalming makeup, mink armpit hair length false eyelashes, Tressy extensions, an orange tan, and have her boobies pushed up to her enhanced cushion lips. The heightened glam caricatures that female impersonators do best is campiness for theatricality; not for a real life way to dress to go to the mall to buy more and more and more. When you want to see some screaming good drag, leave it to the boys. READ: The Top 10 Fashion Moments of 2011 This media-perpetuated, bizarre idea of looking crass has come to a head in 2011. I would

Dear Sharon: I am not planning a big night out but still want something special to wear on New Year's Eve. As a mater of fact, I'm never one to really go all out on New Year's Eve but that doesn't mean that I don't like to celebrate in some small way. At best, we are going next door for a champagne toast with a few neighbors, but most likely, my husband and I will hang in and stay cozy. Is there something simple that you can suggest so I feel a bit more glam than usual but still homey? Thank you... love your site!  --A.K. (via fashion advice) Dear A.K.:  You are not alone in wanting to stay close to
