What to wear to a Christmas party when it’s cold
What to wear to a Christmas party when it's cold Is it ok to wear a short-sleeved dress to a Christmas Party even if it is 30 degrees outside? I am going to wear a shawl but would like to take it off I don't want to look so conservative, just be warm. I am a young 40 and it is a corporate Christmas Party. No matter what the occasion is, dressing appropriately for the weather is common sense. Lucky you, it's a Christmas party and not a red carpet event, when wearing a

Chai Chic! Designer Dreidels by Jonathan Adler
A modern dreidel to drool over It's been a while since we last brought you the modern menorah and it's not for lack of trying. Chanukah may be the Festival of Lights, but it's pretty dim on the design side. All we want for Chanukah are decorative objects that offer the same design aesthetic as any other item in our home. There should be a bit of whimsy for the children, but not goofy. It should incorporate tradition and modernity. It should be more than "descent enough" for Chanukah. It must be gorgeous enough to stand on its own design merits. Well, after sifting through a slew of tchotchkes, we finally turned up something cute. Jonathan Adler's mod enamel driedels

Home Town Style: They do Christmas big in Brooklyn
Dyker Heights takes holiday decoration to new heights… Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, I was always amazed at the extensive holiday house decorations in some areas of the borough– too much was never enough to create a holiday wonderland on the front lawn. Friend and now Brooklyn resident, Mark Moskin of Salient Design photographs some of the most outrageous and brilliant Christmas house decorations around. Mark shares his shot of a “classic” house done up in true Dyker Heights style– a fave to date. True to the ‘Brooklyn does it betta’ motto… enjoy! Retail Remedy, Not: The Ugly Christmas Sweater Calamities
What not to wear… Admittedly in the land of the fashion free for the holidays, where 3D crochet ornamentations and stamped-on snowflakes are the poor excuse for something cute. I didn't happen to stumble upon these garish and homely machine made, ugly Christmas sweaters, they were proudly displayed right up front in the big store in town, waiting for some poor sole to gobble them up and gift them to Great Aunt Tilly or have same gift them to her cherished niece. Don’t. Stop. Say NO to fugly fashion. You can't even regift these shapeless atrocities. Even when worn in jest, ugly Christmas sweaters are just not funny or ironic. Demand that clothing should be both flattering to the wearer
