Yup, there’s a museum for IT bags in Amsterdam!

I honestly don't remember the Hendrikje Museum for Bags and Purses when I was in Amsterdam because I would have made a bee line towards it right after the Rijksmuseum. Lucky for us, Richard Nahem paid the handbag museum a visit and brought back plenty of photos to share. What I do remember is a visit up to the Judith Leiber showroom to repair a bag of mine way back when. It was a black circle suede shoulder bag with passimenterie and the grommet that held the strap on broke.   Ms. Leiber walked by as I was waiting for my turn and paused to look at my bag, "Such a young girl, such an old bag," she announced in her Hungarian accent and

You really want to see this Dries Van Noten Paris Exhibition

First look at this Dries Van Noten Paris celebratory exhibition had me cheering for the designer’s novel approach to mixing bold prints, vivid colors, ethnic references and plays with textiles in ways that are fiercely modern. Let's see what Richard saw. –S.H. I went to see the newly launched Dries Van Noten exhibition last Thursday with a friend visiting from out of town who is into fashion (and who comes once a year to Paris to buy her clothes), so I thought she would enjoy taking in the inspirations too. The fashion exhibitions at Musée des Arts Decoratifs are studiously presented in a specially designated space. The atmosphere is almost like going to the theater: it’s pitch black except for

Le Mix: Try transitional weather dressing with French Chic Street Style inspiration

I'll Have What She's Having: Look to French Chic Street Style and learn to mix the best of fall's layers with something ready for spring... Every season Paris Fashion Week street style always ignites what we want to wear now, even more than the runways most often, as we love the mix of high & low, old & new. Now that the tides are about to change and warm weather is (rejoice!) on it's way, this show goer who Richard snapped outside of the Nina Ricci show during Paris Fashion Week, provides visual inspiration on how to mix it up when it comes to winter gear and a seasonal dress. When it comes to transitional weather dressing, the trick that makes her look work and

Le Coat: Channel French Chic Street Style with a red topper

I'll Have What She's Having: French Chic Street Style styling to add vivid color to your transitional look... While we try to keep our eyes peered on the what's coming down the runway during fashion week, Paris Fashion Week street style snaps always have us yearning to try a new look peppered with instant French Chic. And after a bleary winter season where our sartorial choices were limited to piling on whatever was the warmest (no matter the look), the show goer above in her oversized red coat and unexpected strappy sandals leave us suggesting going for bold when layering as the weather get's warmer. We've gone over how to wear prints, how to go neutral -why not bold? So let's once-over

Paris Fashion Week: Inside + Outside Nina Ricci Fall 2014

Nina Ricci Fall 2014 The Paris insider report: I attended the Nina Ricci  Fall 2014 show during Paris Fashion Week. Held once again at the giant tent in the Tuileries by place de la Concorde, the show was last Thursday at 5PM. I got there a little early to see the pre fashion show before the show, meaning the cavalcade of fashionistas (I hate that word and have never used it, but it this case it’s appropriate) and fashion victims walking down the white vinyl runway entering the show venue. Fashionistas outside Nina Ricci fall 2014 There were smash hits but equally as many doozies a.ka. "did you bother to look in the mirror before you left the house" looks.

Richard turned the table for my take on Parisian Style Tips

A surprise party that Richard threw for me, back in the day!
Most of you know Richard Nahem as our Paris insider. He runs the very successful Parisian style & what to do in Paris blog Eye Prefer Paris when he's not taking a lucky few around the Marais for one of his personalized walking tours over at Eye Prefer Paris Tours. BUT, I've known Richard forever. Way back from a high school spring break trip to Florida kind of forever. We met while sitting it out on a fiberglass bench while bored to death at Jai-Alai and have disco-ed our way as friends ever since. (Secret: Richard can identify almost any disco song from the first three beats). This time, Richard turned the tables on me as he knows what a French
