Regarding Warhol: What Would Andy Say About Fashion Bloggers?

Andy Warhol (American, 1928–1987). Red Jackie, 1964.
Once upon a time, if I was at a party and Andy Warhol turned up, I knew I was in the right place. Beyond being lucky enough to be old enough (age is good for something) to have grown up with Pop Art and its exposure to appreciate Andy Warhol as the great leveler of pop culture and celebrity... those nights at Studio 54 didn't hurt either to realize either that rubbing disco elbows with someone famous is no different than the cute boy across the room. >>MORE: Museums For me, the timing of attending the preview of the Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art during New York Fashion Week last week raises

Runway Now: Nude Nail Polish, The Beauty Trend To Wear Now

butter LONDON at The Row Spring 2013
Nude nail polish, right from the Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week runway.  There's nothing we love more than when classic is on trend! This catwalk trend that SHOULD BE in every stylish woman's beauty arsenal, if it's not already. >> MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS  It's CLASSY not crazy. Forget neon color nails and  grotesque nail designs. (Almost) naked is better and VERY chic. Age-Appropriate Tip: What you can pull off for your toes, doesn't always rock on you hands no matter how trendy it may be at the moment. I've never been a fan of kooky nail colors for a mani after a certain age… let's face it, mint green nails and wrinkled hands are not a pretty combo.  It's far

MM6 Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2013 True To Its Avant-Garde Ease

MM6 Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2013
MM6 Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2013 Runway Review: The ♀ Another vision of Maison Martin Margiela is billed as a take on femininity, but from this house one will never expect feminine to be defined as girlish naivety but rather clean, yet ironic pieces for a woman with a more big city style sensibility who craves some edge in her everyday pieces. >> MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS Truth be told, I wear A LOT from the Martin Margiela brand. Either the more conservatively priced and casual MM6 Maison Martin Margiela line, or the signature Masion Martin Margiela collection (the boots are my personal obsession). There is a certain never trendy, always edgy, but extremely wearable and timeless aesthetic that makes these clothes, accessories, and

If you don’t take my word, Cindy Crawford is also all about self-confidence in how you look too

Cindy Crawford for C&A
Get with ME on this one. She's gorgeous. She's fit. She's tall. She's successful. She's supermodel Cindy Crawford spieling about her new clothing line that  just debuted in Europe for C&A. So why should we care about what Cindy says back here in the States? The line is for Europe and it's an advert, right? WRONG.  "So much about looking good is self-confidence and how you feel," is what Cindy Crawford says in her "behind the scenes" promo video, here: I ABSOLUTELY agree 3,999%. Because, like Jack Benny's proverbial age of 39, at a certain age, self-confidence is what makes you feel chic, empowered, and alive. >>RELATED: Age-Appropriate Style When it comes to personal style, I'm more about helping you make

Inspiration Notes: Vintage Western Style to clean your city palette... We all need a deep breath some time. Stylist Advice: Should I Revamp My Wardrobe From The Ground Up For French Chic Style?

French actress and model Clémence Poésy
Talk Thursday continues... don't forget to send your fashion questions for a bit of stylist advice!    Hey Sharon, I went from a polished mod style and attending MBFW as an invite because of my fashion sketches, to literally digressing into a wardrobe of almost exclusively leggings and shapeless tunics. I obtained a full-time job in graphic design where the bar is very, VERY low. Think: free t-shirts and Crocs on my co-workers-- I will never stoop that low. For me, the realization that I've gotten lazy is now a bit too much-- it almost feels like I am uninspired on a daily basis. I don't want to go back to the mod look. I have been researching basic pieces for implementing a

R.I.P. Anna Piaggi, the end of a fashion era

Anna Piaggi, 81, passed away at her home in Milan. It is indeed the end of an era for authentic eccentric style combined with an unerring eye to what is fashion. In a time of dime a dozen posers trying to set forth their fashion freak for a bit of media attention, Ms. Piaggi was-- and will remain-- an original. Her "work" was as creative consultant to Vogue Italia since 1988 but it is her individuality that is legend. If you are going to make a BIG statement, make it your own and at that, Ms. Piaggi was brilliant beyond compare. R.I.P Anna Piaggi, the joy you brought to fashion will be missed. >> FOR A FULL 360, READ: Is Fast Fashion

Beauty & Brains: Supermodel Discovery To Reduce Cellulite With BelleCore Bodybuffers

Nancy Donahue
I'll Have What She's Having: Bellecore bodybuffer, an anti-cellulite product that is so good, it becomes addictive! Supermodel Nancy Donahue, a refined blonde in the way that makes the straightest of men drop to their knees is the genius behind Bellecore body buffers. Nancy and I have known each other for years as we share a mutual friend, Vincent Gagliostro, art director of FocusOnStyle. The thing is that when it comes to reducing cellulite, someone as lithesome as Nancy could be the last person who I would think would need to concern herself with orange peel skin. I was wrong. Nancy's discovery in the anti-cellulite wars is the Bellecore bodybuffer, a magical little gizmo that takes 5 minutes in the morning and 5

Cheap Chic Stylist Advice: Is fast fashion the end of good taste?

Sometimes less is not more when it comes to a price tag. As I'm sitting outside on what is a very warm day, all I can see is a sea of fashionista fiascos: Ill-fitting maxi dresses that can passoff as nightgowns, garish prints, short shorts and rompers on girls both too old and too out of shape to publicly prance around with their rears hanging out, jersey body-con dresses clinging in a way that even the Shore-ettes would think was cheesy, pastel sheers that look like a shower curtain from Great Aunt Tilly's trailer, and the de rigueur touch of polyester neon (sorry, you shouldn't wear fabric that looks like it would smell!).Eeeecccch. Yet, I'm sure that every fashionista fiasco squealed,
