Take Note…

Pamela Anderson and the The Lycra® British Style Awards Pamela Anderson and the The Lycra® British Style Awards What would life be without references? When the wisdom of life starts to clog your brain, jot it down. Crib notes, if you must! It's nice to see that even Pamela Anderson suffers from any occasional lapse of memory. She may have hosted the dinner for TheLycra® British Style Awards, known in the UK as the 'Oscars' of the Fashion Industry, but when it comes down to not missing a trick, there's no souped-up techno solution for Pam. She does it the old-fashioned way: a cheat note scratched on her palm in blue ink (pictured far left). What the scribble actually says

What is STYLE? Fashion and Romance, closer than you think

Is it the norm to have one style? Recently, I was dating this guy who made the comment, "you haven't found your style yet". I responded that my style is eclectic, meaning that I'm comfortable in a mini skirt, blue jeans, or a suit. I don't like being predictable in my attire nor do I want to be conservative all the time. Am I missing something here? Is it the norm to have one style? I obviously didn't understand the undertone of his statement, but he is not an expert in style. Help!!! Thanks for your time. (Pompano Beach) Hopefully you aren't missing this boob of a boyfriend. Thank the high priestess of all things fabulous that you had the

Hosiery Trends: Ban the Bare Leg…

Hosiery Packs a Punch! Ban the Bare Leg, Hosiery Packs a Punch- Stylething FocusOnStyle.com, colored hosiery, bold tights, fashion trends, fall fashion, update wardrobe Flashback: 1994. Demi Moore plays a powerful attorney who forgoes her pantyhose in the film Disclosure . Result: For almost a decade, bare legs and a pair of heels are a fashion must for looking sexy and hip. Enough! While the bare leg still endures… it's just not as fashionably relevant or cutting edge as opaque tights. And, it's the easiest way to update your wardrobe on the cheap. Instead of stems blue from frostbite, let's give a leg up to legs with color-packed pow. The fall trend is no color is too much color when

Over the Knee Boots… The runway trend that rides high

I am 5 feet tall and Asian. My husband of 10 years loves to see me wearing boots. He prefers boots that are thigh high or knee high. I am a bit shy. He likes to see me either in tight pants tucked into the boots or wearing a mini skirt to show off the boots. I'm afraid of being misinterpreted for "something else". Is there a solution for this? I love my husband and would like to please him. Also, given my height, is this form of dressing appropriate to make me look taller? Thanks for helping!!! (Gilbert, AZ) The independent feminist in me wants to tell you that when it comes to dress you should please yourself before

Stink Stopper…

The Little Green Tablet that Reduces Body Odor You know summer is here when it's the umpteenth time you've been assaulted by the wafting stench of some stinking stranger on the street. In the front seat of a cab. On line at the bank. Next to you at the gym. What happens when Dick Tracy isn't the only one palling around with B.O. Plenty? What happens when people think your alma mater was PU? What happens when the BO comes from you? For those deep in the stink there is a simple solution: Body Mint. Get that clothespin off your nose and pop a little green tablet to rid the raunchy aroma naturally. Made from a special derivative of chlorophyll

Wedding Guest Jitters… How to Dress to Make It Through the Microscope Test

My boyfriend is the best man at his brother's wedding next week. We are both previously divorced. It will be the first time I meet many of his family (we have traveled to Florida to meet his parents and other siblings.) I've not yet met the bride or groom. It is a Saturday evening wedding in Chicago. I expect it to be classy, but not stuffy. The rehearsal dinner is at an art gallery with the typical wine and cheese. I have several questions about things that I'm a teeny bit nervous about! Attire:I thought a simple black dress would be fine, as I'm not anything special in this wedding. When I said that to his mother (a very dear

Maternity Wedding Gowns: June Bride Busting Out All Over…

maternity wedding gowns
style + for the bride with the bump This is not for those who veer to the extreme right. Some plan for their wedding before the proposal. Then there are others where the idea of planning escapes them entirely. SHOPPING GUIDE: Maternity Surprise, surprise, no expectant bride wants to look like an igloo with legs when she takes her vows. Custom designed  maternity wedding gowns can take more time to create than the pregnancy itself. Plus, who wants to book a bunch of wedding dress fittings between check-ups and upchucks? Life may be full of choices, but when it comes to maternity wedding gowns most tend to resemble the tent that party takes place in rather than what the bride

When Less Really Is More…

Convert Your Bikini Bottom Into A Thong In A Snap Convert Your Bikini Bottom Into A Thong In A Snap- We all know the drill about sun protection. Yet sometimes a tan outline can be too much to bare to those not willing to bare all. Face it, a thong bottom does look awfully cute on a tight tush, but we don't necessarily want to get too cheeky when we walk along the beach. We all know the drill about sun protection. Ankle Bracelet Dilemma… Wrap it Up or Wrap it Under

Ankle Bracelet Dilemma... Wrap it Up or Wrap it Under I am hoping you can settle a debate. I am wondering what is the proper way to wear an anklet. My cohort believes that it is acceptable to wear an anklet underneath stockings, where I believe it is not. And though I may be willing to concede that it is OK to wear an anklet under nude stockings, (however begrudgingly) I believe it is NEVER OK to wear an anklet under colored stockings. Am I wrong? Please advise. (Hyde Park, MA) There are those who are fans of wearing anklets, also known as ankle bracelets. Then there are those who simple just don't see them as being a particularly chic

I love the idea but I don't really want a total "I'm with the band" look. How can I get that punky edge without looking like I'm wearing a costume for an early eighties revival night? -- Sheena Is A Punk Rocker (Akron, OH) Dear Sheena: Punk fashion is the comeback that never went away.
