STYLE YOUR SUCCESS, LIVE YOUR DREAM...

The FocusOnStyle Blog
Helping You + Your Business Get Out There!

Make it your business to live your dream…

I inadvertently started my blog during my infant son’s nap time back in 1999… before the term ‘blog’ was even popular.

Through it all, I believe…

Your style is your fingerprint in all that you do… it’s how you see the world + how the world perceives you.

The blog archives go back to the beginning and are updated regularly.  You’ll find 1,000’s of posts about modern business, branding, positioning, marketing, photos, fashion, style, beauty, lifestyle… and most importantly, how to do anything authentically. Enjoy!

Business Style Update: Three Ways to Upgrade Your Style Now Even If Fashion Is Not Your Thing

I was at a business retreat this weekend with fellow women entrepreneurs who suddenly found themselves in the spotlight. Sounds great, right? Nope. These otherwise smart, savvy and successful women looked like deer in headlights when it came to how they present themselves.  Simply because they never really thought about it before. It just was not their thing. And now, they felt insecure, irrelevant, inappropriate and out of touch. It doesn't have to be that way. Even if style doesn't come naturally to you, looking pulled together and relevant is mandatory if you want to be perceived as someone who has made it in your profession. Style can be intimidating if  you're afraid to take the chance. It’s so easy to

Advanced Beauty: The Non-Surgical Lift If the idea of looking like a matron caught in a wind tunnel or Botoxed so tight that you can barely smile freaks you out, I have a some revolutionary Advanced Beauty tips to maintain a youthful appearance from cosmetic restorative guru Dr. Stephen Bracci of Verve Medical Cosmetics. A problem many of us have is that we try to eat healthy, drinks lots of water, maybe don't smoke but enjoy a few glasses of vino here & there, and exercise (as much as possible). We have drawers of creams too. But with time comes shifts in your facial structure, according to Dr. Bracci who keeps his clients looking youthful, luminous and natural. While you may not want to go crazy for

Advanced Beauty: RPZL Hair Extensions Rescue a Bad Haircut

Most people think of hair extensions as a way to add length but there's a whole other plus side to this modern hair wonder. Just as I grew out some overprocessed highlights-- and when my hair not only was back to its natural color but healthy again-- I fell prey to one horrible haircut. Let's be fair to say that my finally shoulder length hair was suddenly hacked into something that could only be described as a soccer mom mullet! If said baby fine soccer mom mullet wasn't hideous enough, the proportion was so off that it was almost impossible to correct. The only possibility was to wait this monstrosity out. Which I did for a couple of anxious months until

Advanced Beauty: Strawberry Laser Lipo shrinks an inch of belly fat at lunch

Think of this as Spanx that's a part of you. Strawberry Laser Lipo treatment is a non-invasive inch-loss and body contouring treatment that shrinks stubborn fat cells. The treatment is fast and mindless as you lay down with space-age looking paddles strapped to you for a 10-20 minute treatment. The unwanted fat is then naturally released from the body via the lymphatic system. It's followed up by a quick session on a vibration plate exercise machine that impressed me so that I instantly looked it up to buy for myself. I tried one session of the recommended eight session Strawberry Laser protocol and lost an inch off my midsection with Carmen Fernandez the Aesthetician at MedSpa 44 in New York. Not bad

Oscars Best Dressed

Who was the best dressed at the Oscars? It's kinda non-plus for me. Really, no BIG wow moments. Look, I'm sitting home (in my brand new and fabulous Ralph Lauren chair) watching the Oscars with my budding filmmaker son, husband, and Mr Poodle (he does stare at the TV). For us, tonight, it's more about "the film" as that's the future filmmaker's thing. So as much as I want to have my fashion head on, what I'm seeing is not getting me overly excited. Oh yeah, as a true confession, I'm wearing a red plaid shirt myself. Sooo, what is standing out for me as Oscars Best Dressed (besides the Mad Max Best Costume Award) are just a few... Who

New Eyes… from the top of One World

Sometimes you need to be a tourist in your own town. Sometimes you need to see the world through a new lens. Sometimes you need to do something different just to see how other people see it. Today, my family and I visited One World Trade that towers 1,776 feet above New York.  The view from the observation deck is beyond spectacular. It undoubtably puts you in awe of the everyday sights that you take for granted from below. Just take a look at the quick video I posted on Instagram, below.
