Oscar Best Dressed 2017- Make Celebrity Style Work In Your Wardrobe!

Last night's Oscar Best Dressed stunners certainly played by the K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stunning) principle of memorable celebrity style. Sure there were plenty of heavily embellished gowns, beading, draping and opponent fabrications, I'd bet that each of the more ornate gowns were a testament to incredible craftsmanship. But what happens when the dress is  fussy, the hair is fussy, makeup is heavy, the wearer gets lost in all the extras and becomes forgettable, particularly on TV where the more graphic the appearance, the better it stands out. Simple and Clean Lines Rule... Then you have the visual stunners that you can't forget the next morning- Viola Davis in striking red, Halle Berry and that hair, Charlize Theron in a

Oscars Best Dressed

Who was the best dressed at the Oscars? It's kinda non-plus for me. Really, no BIG wow moments. Look, I'm sitting home (in my brand new and fabulous Ralph Lauren chair) watching the Oscars with my budding filmmaker son, husband, and Mr Poodle (he does stare at the TV). For us, tonight, it's more about "the film" as that's the future filmmaker's thing. So as much as I want to have my fashion head on, what I'm seeing is not getting me overly excited. Oh yeah, as a true confession, I'm wearing a red plaid shirt myself. Sooo, what is standing out for me as Oscars Best Dressed (besides the Mad Max Best Costume Award) are just a few... Who

I'll Have What She's Having: Red carpet your way style inspiration a la Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Claire Danes at the S.A.G. Awards It's so easy to dismiss what you see on the red carpet as a fantasy that will never fit into your real life. But, use what you see as an inspirational launch point to punch up your personal style.  As I tell the ladies in the C'est Chic Crash Course, the nuance is in the details, so let's get to it! Feminine Spin On A Tuxedo   I love a spin on tuxedo dressing as a super feminine way to dress. Yes, menswear on a woman can be very sexy. We saw Emma Stone's tuxedo look last week, and Julia Roberts

How to Wear It Week! Everyday Mom Chic: Julianne Moore gets how to wear a cute summer hat and not look like a run of the mill hipster

Julianne Moore at LAX wearing Hat Attack’s Julia floppy fedora.
This week’s summer spotlight is How to Wear It Week. Let's look at this favorite post about wearing a summer hat with élan. I'll Have What She's Having: A cute summer hat that's classic and chic with easy, non affected summer style Hipster hats are really ironic. Afterall, the hipster style point of view for wearing a hat is to kinda look like an independent thinking progressive, anti-establishment cool dude. Yet, if everyone is running around wearing the same dang fedora, doesn't that morph into looking like an über establishment conformist? Humm. >> MORE: Hats But, a nifty summer straw can be rather chic. Not to mention add a bit of protective shade. Just look at Julianne Moore wearing Hat Attack’s Julia floppy

Armani Privé Fall / Winter 2014-2015   Sophia Loren, Juliette Binoche, Chloe Grace Moretz, Kate Hudson, and Jared Leto Juliette Binoche, Chloe Grace Moretz, Jared Leto, Sophia Loren, Pink, Kate Hudson, Elsa Pataky were front row and center Giorgio at the Prive show earlier this evening. Pleasingly Pleated

I'm not always a fan of "big" dresses, and glittery shoes typically look a few seasons back for me. But put it altogether on Marion Cotillard and the result is sublime. Styled by the wrong hands, a plisse pleated dress like this can be overwhelming. But the simplicity and ease of Cotillard's hair, makeup, and confidence make this Dior Haute Couture look stellar. Another lesson learned in that it's not what you wear but how you wear it.  More from the best of Cannes Do Chic series to help you get it together with ease. Cannes Do Chic: How to modernize a full skirt flare dress a la Chiara Mastroianni

I'll Have What She's Having:  A classic flare dress that looks fresh and modern From our series of the  best of Cannes Do Chic to help you get it together with ease... I love a flare dress. Chiara Mastroianni's (daughter of Catherine Deneauve and Marcello Mastroianni) nonchalent edge modernizes her 50's silhouette flare dress from Dior. The cut boasts a certain timeless grown-up sophistication that works so well with both a curvy figure and for those looking to create a curvy figure. But, it can look old if not styled with the right modern sensibilites. [box] Non sequitor little girl trivia time: Truth be told, I had a big childhood crush on Marcello Mastroianni and old Italian movies.  If I was a blonde, I wanted
